This 12 hour workshop teaches an overview of the feminist
relational anti-diet approach to working with compulsive overeaters, bulimics
and anorexics. By focusing on the symptom, the counsellor learns to use eating
and body image issues as a metaphor for other psychological issues while still
addressing the deep pain of the client.. The class will include case
supervision and role plays, and is a prerequisite to additional training and
supervision in this field.
12 Hour Advanced Course meets 2 Saturdays, 1st and 8th May,
2010 9:30am-4:30pm
This
course
is a continuation of
the introductory seminar. Videotaped
demonstrations and case presentations will be used to deepen your
understanding of the relationship between trauma, dissociation, and eating and
body issues. You will learn to guide clients step-by-step in applying the
anti-deprivation relational approach to overcoming eating problems and
integrate psychoeducational work with ego state therapy.
There will be video taped and live demonstrations of the application of
PsychoSomatic Integration (see
here) to eating issues. Focus will be on transference,
countertransference and the therapeutic relationship.
*The Advanced
seminar incorporates the
PsychoSomatic Integration approach to working with compulsive
overeaters, bulimics and anorexics and will include video and live
demonstrations.
